Course Information

Swim: 0.75-miles
The swim will take place in the cool, clear waters of Indian Brook Reservoir. The route will be in the shape of a large triangle.  Swimmers will start and finish on the beach near the boat launch area, swimming in a clockwise direction..

Transition 1
The transition from swim to bike will consist of a 200-yard run on dirt roads and trails to the central transition area.  It will be the racers choice if they would like to bring shoes to the swim area.  Racers will have to carry all belongings back to the transition area.

Mountain Bike: 10-miles (2 laps)
The mountain bike section will take place on the trails within the boundaries of the park. The trails are mostly single track and with some technical sections and include challenging rocky terrain, steep climbs and several fun and fast descents.  There is a MANDATORY DISMOUNT (see course map) where all participants will have to get off of their bikes and walk the section.  Any racer that does not adhere to this rule will be disqualified.  Toward the end of the bike loop, about .25 miles will be shared with the run course (see Course map).  There will be cones down the center of the trail.  Bikers are to stay to the right of the cones.   Before bikers head back on the trail for their 2nd lap they will get a mark on their race number.  It is the responsibility of the racer to slow down in this area so our volunteers can mark the number properly.  If you come back from your 2nd lap and do not have a mark, you will need to complete another lap.

Transition 2
The transition from bike to run will take place at the central
transition area where the swim to bike transition takes place.

Trail Run: 4 miles (2 laps)
The trail run portion of the race will take place on the trails within the boundaries of the park.  The course will primarily follow the trail that goes around the Reservoir. Toward the end of the run loop, about .25 miles will be shared with the bike course (course map coming soon).  There will be cones down the center of the trail. Runners are to stay to the left of the cones.  Before runners head back on the trail for their 2nd lap, they will get a mark on their race number.  It is the responsibility of the racer to slow down in this area so our volunteers can mark the number properly.  If you come back from your 2nd lap and do not have a mark, you will need to complete another lap.

Additional Information:
Parking at this event will be limited.  We will do our best to accommodate all racers to park on race site.  If we run out of parking, we will have additional parking at Essex Alliance Church which is approximately 1 mile away from the race site.  If we do use this parking, we will have an equipment drop off area at the race site and ask that you park your car at this location.  We will have a shuttle service to bring you back to the race site.  Shuttles will be running after the race as well.

On Site Facilities:
Indian Brook Reservoir is a primitive location.  There is no running water or changing facilities on site.  There will be port-o-lets on site.  After the race, racers will have access to Sports and Fitness Edge and will be able to use their locker-room and shower facilities.  Participants will have to show their race number to access the facility.  Sports and Fitness Edge is located on 4 Gauthier Drive, Essex Junction, Vermont 05452 which is approximately 5 miles from Indian Brook Reservoir.
